To celebrate the release of A Minecraft Movie trailer last month, we’ve partnered with LEGO to give readers a chance at winning the awesome LEGO Minecraft Sky Tower set.
What is the Film About?
“A mysterious portal pulls four misfits into the Overworld, a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master the terrain while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected crafter named Steve.”
Based on the best-selling Minecraft game released in 2011, A Minecraft Movie is loosely based on some of the characters and surroundings from the game. The game was initially developed and published by Swedish video game developer Mojang Studios. It has since been ported to multiple platforms, including Windows PC, MacOS, Linux, Xbox and even smartphones in recent years, most of which came after Mojang was purchased by Microsoft in 2014 to drive the expansion. Minecraft is currently the best-selling video game of all-time, selling over 300 million copies and having an active base of over 140 million monthly players.
The film follows the adventures of a team of four, including Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks). They are pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld, a strange world with cubic features built on imagination. To make their way home, they must complete a magical quest after being joined by expert crafter Steve (Jack Black). As such, the team will need to learn to master this new world with the help of Steve while reconnecting with the qualities that make each uniquely creative.

Much like the game, The Sky Tower set features diverse buildable environments that reconfigure in infinite ways to inspire endless Minecraft adventures through creative building. Included in the contents is a Pilot figure with elytra wings, netherite helmet, firework rocket and trident, 2 flying phantoms, an orange tabby cat and plenty of additional accessories.
