Cobra Kai has always thrived on surprises. How many times has John Kreese died and come back? How many villains turned into heroes? The showrunners love flipping the script, and they did it again with the explosive ending to Netflix’s Cobra Kai Season 6. In a recent interview, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald addressed the deaths of John Kreese and Terry Silver in the finale and how it was planned from the beginning. But the biggest takeaway? A Terry Silver spin-off called Octo-Silver.
Did Terry Silver & John Kreese Really Die, Though?

The finale gave us the ultimate showdown between war buddies-turned-rivals, Kreese and Silver. Their story ended with a literal bang—on a boat, which exploded into a million pieces. But did it really? Fans have been dissecting the scene, convinced that one (or both) of the Karate masters somehow survived.
On the red carpet at PaleyFest, Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald addressed these wild theories in an interview with The Direct:
“It was always the intent for them to die together,” Heald confirmed. “It was always the intent for [John] Kreese to sacrifice himself to save Johnny from peril.” He added that while Silver’s arc seemed to end in Season 5, they knew there was one last move to be made—one last “death rattle” that had to be silenced. That led to the epic yacht battle and the ultimate send-off.
But fans weren’t convinced. No bodies = no deaths, right? When asked if there was any chance of a comeback, Hurwitz kept it simple: “You can watch the episode, see that explosion, see how close they were to where the explosion started, and determine for yourself if you think it’s possible for human beings to survive that.”
Enter Octo-Silver – The Craziest Terry Silver Spin-off
Then things got weird. Really weird. Josh Heald joked, “I’ll say MythBusters should try to recreate it. Get a couple of pig carcasses, put them really close to a bunch of gasoline, throw a cigar at a lit cigar, and just see what happens.”
Schlossberg added, “There’s a lot of water nearby… if they caught on fire and fell into the water, it’s possible. They’re very athletic men.”
But Hurwitz took it to the next level: “I would expect Kreese and Silver did explode into a million pieces. It’s possible that their bodies reformed, or they reformed as one, and they’re one giant Kreese-Silver monster.”
Then came the legendary moment:
Heald: “Silver’s head could be on an octopus now, and it’s symbiotically become part of his brain. It’s Octo-Silver.”
Hurwitz: “By the way, that’s the spin-off that’s coming. You heard it here first. Octo-Silver.”

The Cobra Kai Cinematic Universe Expands?
Forget Cobra Kai. Forget Karate Kid: Legends. This is the spin-off we need. A massive, tentacled, karate-fighting Terry Silver terrorizing The Valley. Who can stop him? Only one group: Cobra Kai. And, of course, Daniel LaRusso teams up with Johnny Lawrence and Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han to take down the beast. Assemble the Cobra Kai Avengers.
Karate against an eight-armed martial arts monster? Hell yeah. As we’ve learned in the franchise, nothing is impossible with karate.
The Cobra Kai showrunners might have been joking, but let’s be real—if Netflix announced this Terry Silver spin-off tomorrow, we’d all be watching.
