Update: The official DC Titans Twitter page has shared first-look images of Curran Walters’ Jason Todd as Red Hood in Season 3.
The original story
With DC’s live-action Titans series moving from DC Universe to HBO Max this year, the show promises huge surprises and big reveals. One of the popular requests by fans was to see Curran Walters‘ Robin become The Red Hood, and it looks like Season 3 of the show will deliver on the suggestion. That’s right, Curran Walters’ Jason Todd will ditch the Robin mantle and, like his character in the comic books, evolve into the Red Hood. During a DC FanDome panel with the cast on Saturday, August 22, executive producer Greg Walker confirmed the news.
Jason Todd was last seen leaving the team in Season 2 of Titans after being tortured by Deathstroke. He also discovered that Dick Grayson had a hand in the death of Jericho. Both are good enough reasons for the young hero to turn into the villain. His new costume will be based on the above comic book look: grey armour, red symbol underneath a brown jacket and, of course, the red helmet.
As comic book fans would know, Jason Todd became Robin when Dick decided to become Nightwing. However, the character was eventually killed off by the Joker in 1988’s A Death in the Family. In 2005, the character was resurrected as an anti-hero.
With Curran Walters’ Robin now stepping into the role of the Red Hood, and Dick Grayson becoming Nightwing, there leaves some room for a new Boy Wonder. Will we finally see Damian Wayne join the Titans series? Perhaps. Over the first two seasons, we’ve seen many different DC characters join the roster, including Dove, Hawk, Starfire, Beast Boy, Ravager, Superboy, and Krypto.
